PacMan Trainer / Puckman Study - Part I -- Everything but the monsters.
This is a remake of the classic arcade game PacMan which was originally released in Japan by NAMCO as Puckman in 1979. I will eventually do a spoofed version of this game but am currently focused on Puckman's play mechanics & art work. Part I is basically PacMan without the ghosts. It is fully playable, including intermissions, giving you the ability to explore the game minus the ghost threat. (Note: If you are really into the arcade game and are looking for a way to improve your score you could use this as a way to help memorize patterns.)
CREDITS: Despite the fact that I have recreated the artwork, characters, and levels from scratch the original sound effects, characters, and level designs are still owned by NAMCO.

Important Keys:
spacebar = Insert coin
Enter = start game
arrow keys = movement
(P) key = Pause
(R) key = Reset
ESC = Exit the game
F1 = NFO screen
F4 = Toggles between windowed & FULL screen
---
Game Details:
_Bonus man at 10,000 points
_Bonus symbols appear after 70 & 170 regular dots are eaten.
_Bonus symbols appear in the correct order according to level.
_Bonus symbols disappear after a random amount of time between 9 & 10 seconds.
_All intermissions included.
_All levels flash correct number of times upon successful completion.
_Puckman's speed changes according to the appropriate level.
---
Notes:
I find that recreating a game can be helpful in understanding how the original artists and programmers tackled their project. This is valuable experience for someone such as myself and makes for an interesting study.
Nothing you see in game was copied. All artwork & coding was recreated by myself to as close to pixel perfect as I could make it. Part II will be the complete game including the ghosts. Hopefully I will be able to successfully recreate the ghosts AI.
Sounds are all original sounds from the game. (Copyright by NAMCO)
---
Known Issues and/or Bugs:
_The highscore is mostly there for show at the moment. It resets when the game re/starts.
_No waka waka sound yet. And yes, the siren sound is part of the original game.
_My collision detection isn't perfect but it's very close. Occasionally PacMan will overlap the maze by a pixel or two.

Special thanks to:
Jamey Pittman for his exceptionally informative PacMan Dossier.
Without this valuable resource my game would not have been accurately possible.
